Group IT architect

What will be your key responsibilities:

We're now looking for an IT Architect, who will be responsible for ensuring that the technology used to fulfil Fortuna’s business needs is fit-for-purpose, placed well for future technology plans and foreseeable business needs, and is efficient in terms of operations, maintenance and future development potential.
  • Manage stewardship of assigned architectural area, namely in platform core services and 3rd party integrations
  • Manage documentation and communication of architectural principles
  • Participate on solution design of individual projects / features
  • Ensure that the designed solutions are architecturally sound
  • Contribute towards increasing the maturity of Fortuna’s IT architecture competence.
  • Propose specific components and technologies which should be used for future development.
  • Enforce and monitor the "agreed upon" policies and best practices through-out the organisation.
  • Provide technical inputs to 3rd party vendors and technically assess their offers.
  • Play a role in the definition of modern IT development and operations processes (agile/devops) proposing if, how and when such processes are appropriate, but also being aware when traditional processes are better suited.

What experience should you have:

  • Experience as an architecture expert and/or software designer/developer
  • Good ability to document solutions, both in written form and using appropriate visual tools/techniques, e.g. Enterprise Architect, UML, Archi, Visio,
  • Reasonable knowledge of modern programming languages (one or more of e.g. Java, C/C++, Python, modern Javascript
  • Knowledge of IT architecture and integration patterns and principles (e.g. SOA)
  • Knowledge of SW design principles (e.g. OOD) and SW patterns
  • Some awareness of modern SW development and operations processes (agile, devops), as well as traditional methods, including the strengths and weaknesses of these
  • Keen interest in latest technology trends in the field of programming languages, techniques and products
  • Good level of professional knowledge in one or more of following areas: modern web front-end/back-end development, middleware/ESB, databases (incl. NoSQL), message brokers (Kafka, Rabbit MQ), protocols/interfaces commonly used in IT integration (e.g. SOAP, XML, JSON, SQL, REST, Web Sockets),
  • Experience with the enterprise architecture discipline incl. knowledge of relevant frameworks (e.g. TOGAF) welcome but not required
  • Sociable and communicative - frequent interaction with business stakeholders, business analysts, development teams and vendors
  • Comfortable in a changing technical environment with often incomplete requirements for change
  • Keen and willing to continue with ongoing technical self-education, ability to quickly assimilate and understand new technical information
  • Ability to be persuasive but patient in convincing others of an architectural vision
  • Able to use both technical jargon and plain language to explain complex technical concepts depending on the audience
  • Self-managed and independent personality
