Category Manager – Capital Equipment (3-month Contract)

We are looking for a colleague to join the procurement team of a leading global pharmaceutical company 🌍💼. This assignment is ideal for an experienced Buyer or Strategic Buyer, who would like to gain international experience, support a friendly team 🤝, and work on a practical sourcing project related to capital equipment.

This is a hands-on, well-structured position where you’ll support category activities and help implement sourcing initiatives at the local level.

What will be your key responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of global category and sourcing strategies at the local/site level, helping to align activities with global standards 🌐.
  • Contribute to sourcing plans for the sub-category and support delivery of savings and efficiency targets 💡📉.
  • Provide input on category segmentation and help identify key suppliers; in some cases, manage local purchasing decisions (supplier choice, timing, commercial conditions) 🧩🤝.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers within the sub-category and monitor their performance based on consistent KPIs 📊.
  • Gather supplier data and feedback from teams across sites and countries, and support reporting for the Procurement Balanced Scorecard 📝🌍.
  • Participate in preparing, reviewing and applying major contracts within the sub-category, ensuring conditions are clearly communicated and followed 📃✔️.
  • Help resolve supplier performance issues in a timely way to ensure smooth operations and end-user satisfaction ⚙️🔧.
  • (Where applicable) Support administrative tasks such as managing small distributions or sample coordination.

What experience should you have:

  • Experience in vendor management and working with larger or international suppliers 🌍.
  • Ideally 3–5+ years in procurement, sourcing, equipment purchasing, or maintenance-related services.
  • Ability to work with data — analysing reports, comparing offers, and navigating internal systems (Excel, procurement tools) 📊🧠.
  • Experience with project management, problem-solving and identifying opportunities for value creation 🔍.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — ability to collaborate across multiple teams and business units 🗣️🔄.
  • Comfortable working in an international environment and across cultures 🌐.
  • Fluent English.
  • Negotiation skills and experience working with internal/external customers are a plus 🤝✨.
