Physical Design Engineer

The Physical Design Engineer position involves responsibility for implementing ultra-high performance and low power data processing chips. You will collaborate with RTL designers to achieve PPA goals and suggest appropriate trade-offs. Your main tasks will include floor-planning, experimenting with placement and routing techniques for improved PPA, solving timing closure for high-frequency designs including possible manual placement of logic, and helping to define low latency/low skew clock tree methodologies/design. You will also help to define appropriate power grid structures to meet EM/IR goals and automate processes to improve turnaround times.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to work with our global design team
• Several years of experience in high-performance semiconductor designs is a big plus
• Knowledge of Verilog and understanding of the ASIC design flow
• Desirable background in computer architecture and a strong interest in physical design
• The ability to quickly learn new technologies and apply that knowledge
• BS or MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, suitable for graduate candidates
