Senior Data Engineer

You will become part of a newly forming data team and take responsibility for delivering data products in a modern, cloud-based environment. Your main focus will be on designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and data solutions that support analytical and reporting use cases.

A key part of your role will be working with a business-oriented data platform (Data Integration Hub / DWH concept) and contributing to its development and optimization. You will participate in building new data layers for analytics and reporting and support the migration of data from existing data warehouse solutions into a newly established platform.

You will be responsible for leading smaller data initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with business priorities, data quality, and timely delivery. Close collaboration with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders will be essential to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

In addition, you will:

• support data governance activities and promote best practices
• mentor junior data engineers
• participate in code reviews and quality assurance processes (e.g. Code Reviews)
• contribute to improving data culture across the organization

• Solid hands-on experience in data engineering / data product development (3+ years)
• Strong experience with SQL and working with complex datasets
• Programming experience (e.g. Python) and ability to work with data processing and automation
• Understanding of data warehouse concepts and Business Intelligence principles (data marts, dimensional modeling, ETL concepts)
• Practical experience with data pipeline design (from analysis to implementation)
• Knowledge of CI/CD and release management principles (versioning, automated testing, deployment)
• Familiarity with data transformation and orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
• Understanding of modern data platform architectures (data lakehouse, cloud solutions)
• Experience with data governance and metadata management is an advantage
• Experience with SAP systems (e.g. SAP BW, SAP data structures) is a plus
• Experience with data warehouse migration and legacy systems is a plus
• Knowledge of tools such as Python, PySpark, streaming tools (Kafka, etc.) is an advantage
• Ability to lead smaller projects and coordinate delivery with business stakeholders
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
• Czech (or Slovak) and English – both required
