Technical Domain Lead

The Technical Domain Lead drives technical strategy, execution, and delivery within their domain, ensuring scalable, reliable, and high-quality solutions. They partner closely with the Principal Product Manager, co-owning the successful delivery of projects, initiatives, and features.

While not directly managing people, the Technical Domain Lead is responsible for performance management and delivery of the entire engineering team, including backend, frontend, QA, machine learning, and other disciplines. They partner closely with their respective Chapter Leads to calibrate talent for their domains. They contribute to roadmaps, estimations, technical designs, capacity management, and performance reviews.

What will be your key responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Execution

  • Defines the technical vision, strategy, and roadmap for the domain.
  • Ensures teams deliver high-quality, scalable solutions on time.
  • Drives adoption of modern technologies, stacks and AI-powered tools to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Proposes scalable solutions that remove, not create, technical debt.
  • Serves as the P1 escalation point, ensuring fast investigation and resolution of production incidents.

Collaboration & Governance

  • Co-owns delivery with the Principal Product Manager, ensuring execution meets expectations.
  • Break down complex features into manageable tasks and prioritize them
  • Works with Chapter Leads to manage team capacity, performance reviews, and talent gaps.
  • Contributes to roadmap planning, technical estimations, and mission kick-offs.
  • Coordinates teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment across engineering and product.

Quality & Reliability

  • Owns technical design reviews (CTDRs) for their domains
  • Is responsible for setting up monitoring and alerting for visibility into the systems and prompt response to incidents.
  • Ensures root cause analysis and long-term fixes for production issues.
  • Maintains and prioritizes the technical backlog, driving continuous improvement.

What experience should you have:

  • 5+ years in engineering leadership / management roles with 3+ years of hands on experience.
  • Deep business domain knowledge and strong technical expertise and experience in operations, warehouse management or similar systems
  • Ability to dive deep into technical problems, systems and designs. The role is partially hands on.
  • Experience in scalable system design, incident resolution, and performance management.
  • Ability to balance technical trade-offs with business impact in a fast-paced, agile environment.
