Automation Engineer

What will be your key responsibilities:

ROLE SUMMARY:

Design and implementation of complex tiered distributed SCADA systems, developing customer-specific automation systems for the manufacturing and process industries following good automation/ system practices and industry standards. The individual will be self-motivated to achieve and exceed expectations. Be able to work as part of a team and collaborate across tiers and be capable of individually undertaking smaller projects. The individual will be required to keep abreast of their area of expertise and continually enhance their knowledge and depth of understanding with a willingness to tackle new challenges.

WHAT YOUR PROFILE SHOULD BE:

Essential

  • Understanding of ISA, and IEC standards as applied to Automation and control systems and Architectural design
  • Experience with Ignition SCADA extension modules
  • Understanding of the tires and layers used within Automation systems and interaction with business systems as used in manufacturing and process industries
  • Ability to generate documentation for Functional Design, Site Acceptance and User Guides
  • Deliver Training of customer Engineers and Users with systems delivered
  • At least 2 years of experience working with and delivering complex SCADA systems
  • Understanding and experience with the real-time systems
  • Working knowledge of PAC or PLC systems
  • The ability to design and create visual, useable screens and displays in SCADA which are intuitive and functional for operators
  • Experience with Ethernet, TCP, I.P networks
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and setup
  • Experience working with field buses and data access technologies, such as OPC, I.O.T, MQTT, Modbus, ControlNet, DeviceNet and ProfNet
  • Knowledge of Continuous and batch production in manufacturing and process industries

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA distributed systems
  • Experience in high-level programming languages Python, C#, .net
  • Experience in relational databases and SQL scripting and query generation
  • Experience with Allen Bradley SLC, PLC5, CLX, Siemens S7
  • Experience with FT Distributed, Intouch, Icons, WICC SCADA
  • Experience with an understanding of PID and Electrical control drawings
  • Experience with Firewalls, and Security with tiers of Automation and business systems
  • Experience with edge controllers, topology for control security and access control and zoning control
  • Understanding TLS, certificates and ACLs
  • Understanding and implementation of Manufacturing Execution systems and planning and scheduling systems
