Global Drug Safety Associate Director -Safety Physician
About the Role:
The role of Global Drug Safety Associate Director/Safety Physcian involves line management and mentoring of the Medical Safety team-covering medical writing, benefit risk assessment, and signal detection, acting as a technical subject matter expert for Global Drug Safety. It also includes supporting operational deliverables, providing strategic support to clients, and assisting in the identification of key hiring needs.
What will be your key responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor the Medical Safety team, covering medical writing, benefit risk assessment and signal detection.
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for Global Drug Safety.
- Support operational deliverables and provide strategic support to clients.
- Assist in identifying key hiring needs.
- Mentor and coach the team for professional growth.
- Assist in resource assessment and allocation plans.
- Support team with project and technical issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in audits and inspections.
- Engage in company activities and business development.
- Identify new business opportunities.
- Work cross-functionally with key stakeholders.
- Build working relationships based on transparency and trust.
- Support team tools and department utilisation.
What experience should you have:
Qualifications:
- Graduate in medicine.
- Proven experience working in a Pharmacovigilance function or PV consulting business, with experience across product lifecycle and exposure to global safety operations.
- Experience in leadership and people management.
- Detailed knowledge of Safety processes.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in medical or safety department.
- Fluent in verbal and written English.
- Ability to delegate and oversee work.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and consulting skills.
Required Skills:
- Experience in Pharmacovigilance.
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Knowledge of Safety processes.
- Experience in medical terminology.
- Ability to work with safety databases.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience at a service provider/CRO.
- Previous work at a healthcare agency.
- Additional languages proficiency.
