Head of Ops Controlling and Business Partnering

Role Overview

This role will require you to be extremely hands-on, organised, able to cope well under pressure and have a passion for Operations and Finance in a fast-growing start-up environment. 

What will be your key responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of this role is to serve as a strategic partner to the operational teams within the company and provide guidance and support for financial and business-related decision-making. You will be partnering the Group Chief Operating Officer to deliver ambitious ops plans on automated and highly efficient fulfilment and delivery.

You will be leading the strategic financial planning including periodic forecasts, performance reviews and annual budgeting for Operations. As a Head of Operations Controlling / Business Partner you will provide financial analysis and insight identifying risks and opportunities ahead of time to drive business results and support decision making for our fulfilment centres and last mile operations.


What we expect from you

● Ensure our vision and strategy are achieved through robust financial planning and reporting for operations group wide supported by integrated operational and financial kpis

● Lead comprehensive financial models to identify quantifiable risks & opportunities (financial and operational), provide insight on developing options and track growth plans for our operational strategy

● In depth analysis of cost centres for actual vs budget. Work with operations and controlling teams across the markets to identify and explain variances

● Support the business planning and performance review process by providing accurate financial data, financial insight and support the stakeholders in achieving their business targets

● Provide clear, well presented management information with actionable insight integrating financial and operational metrics to drive decision making

● Provide constructive challenge to drive business outcomes considering group wide impacts

● Support the development of robust business cases to ensure best return on investment and management of our capital spend

● Work closely with Country Finance teams and especially with Operational Controllers to drive consistency in approach for financial reporting and accounting and leverage expertise to drive best out comes across operations.

● Work closely with the Operational People team to drive best outcomes for labour and capacity planning

● Continuously improve the way we support the business with financial acumen and reporting

● Deliver specific projects providing financial and operational expertise

● Review monthly management accounts and provide commentary / insight to assist in management decision making

● Leads budgets and re-forecasting activities throughout the year to support operations as it continues to scale. Perform scenario and "what if" analysis monthly

● Manage one direct report as well as provide indirect mentoring to other ops controller within the country finance teams

● Strong in building effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels with a wide range ofpeople including regulators, legal advisors, senior management and executive board

● Financial modelling, scenario planning skills

● Business case development

● Entrepreneurially minded, attention to detail, strong ownership and an innovative approach to problem solving

● High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

● You can build high level models and think strategically plus enjoy working in an innovative and ever-changing environment

● Excellent analytical and quantitative skills

● Team player and good communication skills

● Fluency in English a must
