HR Director DACH (m/w/d)

Rohlik Group operates Europe's leading online grocery delivery service. We are on a mission for our customers’ healthier and happier lives by helping them eat and live better. Marrying state-of-the-art technology and logistics with love for food, we deliver up to 20,000 SKUs of high quality groceries to our customers as fast as in 60 minutes. We carry all the favorite brands, plus a range of affordable own-label products. In each city we carefully select the best quality and freshest local products to save our customers time; from butchers to bakery, and fresh produce directly from farmers via our unique Farm-to-Door program.

Today we have 1,500,000+ customers in major European cities including Prague, Vienna, Munich and beyond. Last year we delivered more than 11 million orders.

We are the fastest growing online grocery delivery service in the DACH region, so far operating in Munich, Frankfurt and Vienna, expanding to Berlin in Spring 2024 and Hamburg soon after. This marks the beginning of a period of expansion to 20 cities in the DACH region by 2030.

The P&C teams in HQ and Operations work as One Team of HR Business Partners, Payroll and Support specialists, all focusing on creating a Great Place to Work with highly engaged teams. We ensure our cultural Ingredients are embedded and role modelled throughout the organisation. We obsess about customers and employee experience - from our external brand, to hiring, colleagues’ growing with us, through to their last day of employment. We continuously work towards functional excellence in people data & analysis, internal communications, HR legislation, payroll, talent reviews and development. Our local P&C team partners with the wider function across the Group.

Role Overview

As HR Director, you head our People & Culture strategy, organization and initiatives across DACH HQ and Operations teams, ensuring harmonization with the Rohlik Group's HR strategy. As our business continues to grow and evolve fast, there is a great opportunity for you as a leader to set up our organization for this fast scaling while staying true to our culture Ingredients and advancing our ESG agenda. You determine where the biggest opportunities are and navigate the business towards them. You work closely with stakeholder teams (in HQ Marketing, Commercial, Customer Care functions, and in Operations warehouse and last mile delivery functions) to ensure clear objectives, guidelines and processes are in place. Ultimately, you shape all people related matters to achieve our businesses people performance and engagement objectives. You report directly to the local CEO, are a member of the DACH Board, and engage in direct dialogue with our parent company in Prague, ensuring that our local practices are well-aligned with group-wide HR initiatives.

  • You are the leader and proactive, trustworthy partner to the CEO and management team for all people matters
  • You are a guardian of our culture and engrain it into every aspect of how we do business
  • You lead internal communications, locally and efficient communications with the Group
  • You lead our ESG agenda of becoming a leading employer in diversity, equality and governance standards
  • You are a P&C subject matter expert who solves strategic questions as well as the unknown issues every day with creativity, energy and the courage to do things differently, while considering the group’s best practices and following group processes.
  • You ensure smooth running of our operations staffing, across our local Fulfilment Centres and Last Mile delivery teams
  • You drive local recruitment activities to find the best people on the market who are a cultural fit with the company, and ensure to hire them at high success rates within fast hiring SLAs
  • You own efficient and effective onboarding of all new employees to make them hit the ground running, incorporating group-standardized onboarding practices
  • You develop and lead effective talent review and development program to create a highly engaged and performing organization with great personal career
  • You lead an effective mechanism for measuring and improving employee satisfaction (eNPS)
  • You ensure smooth HR operations across payroll, HR Admin and compliance
  • You display strong skills in cost controlling and efficiency in P&C processes, leveraging opportunities of digitization and automation delivered by a tech-savvy P&C team

  • An experienced HR professional: bring intense hands-on experience with proven results in all core People areas, including hiring, employee satisfaction, talent reviews & development, and performance management across HQ and Operations functions
  • Customer and business mindset: Someone with passion for delivering superb customer service, who understands how great people can deliver it. Thus, a person with business mindset, who is structured, diligent and attentive to employee needs
  • A practical doer and thought-leader: Somebody who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves, own a problem and get on with any objective, delivering even without support of a large team
  • Star team developer: a seasoned leader who has proven to be able to set up an efficient multi-functional org with smooth interfaces to partner teams, and to develop individual talents, thus creating a high-performance org that delivers at scale in a sustainable manner
  • Start-up culture fit: a person who thrives working in an innovative, ever-changing, fast-paced environment, who understands the time frame and fluidity of situations at a start-up
  • Round skill set: Strong written and verbal communication, excellent analytical and project management skills, fluent in German and English language. Preferably, solid industry experience in E-commerce, Retail and/or FMCG
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree; 6+ years relevant HR leadership experience
