Network & Systems Engineer

In the role of an Associate Network & Systems Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to offer third-layer support to the connectivity team, with a special focus on KIC and GIC, to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality service to our customers. This entails overseeing and maintaining the devices and services within our Datacenters, ensuring they remain up-to-date and operational.

What will be your key responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues, proactively identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
  • Collaborating closely with the connectivity team to respond to their requests promptly and continuously monitoring tools to proactively detect problems.
  • Competence in troubleshooting connectivity issues with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in configuring and testing various types of secure tunnels to meet specified requirements.
  • Ability to analyze Ethernet traffic dumps and identify anomalies.
  • Direct involvement in the identification and resolution of complex technical problems.
  • Independent work on intricate systems or infrastructure components used by one or more applications or systems.
  • Creation and analysis of network diagrams to document the intricacies of delivered services.
  • Management of network devices in data centers to ensure end-to-end connectivity.
  • Management of Linux servers in data centers.
  • Coordination with the product owner to plan, analyze, and maintain enhancements/upgrades while understanding the usage of specific functionalities.
  • Collaboration with a team of network and systems engineers to enhance and refine connectivity solutions.
  • Additionally, employees in this role may be assigned other job duties by Solar Digital management as needed.

What experience should you have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Network & Systems Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen with a proven track record.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving production connectivity issues.
  • A minimum of 3 years of industry experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in designing, delivering, and maintaining network infrastructure.
  •  A minimum of 3 years of experience in Network & Systems Engineering, including:

  - Solid knowledge of Cisco devices for switching and routing.

  - Proficiency in network tunneling protocols like IPSec and GRE.

  - Strong familiarity with the Linux operating system.

  - Sound knowledge of IPtables.

  • Strong understanding of Agile methodology, with a preference for experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Proficiency in both English and Slovak languages.


Preferred Qualities in Top Candidates:

  • Capability to work independently and as an individual contributor within a small team of developers during the implementation of development tasks.
  • A keen interest in collaborative work with engineering leadership, product owners, Network & Systems Engineering teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Juniper devices for switching and routing.
  • Familiarity with open-source software solutions such as Bacula backup system, Zabbix, Grafana, and Security Onion.
  • Sound knowledge of Firewall/Appliance systems, including VyOS, PaloAlto, and PS (OpenBSD firewall).
  • Enthusiasm for technology and a strong desire to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • An aptitude for quick adaptation to complex environments.
  • Some level of experience with Cloud technologies.
  • Proactive thinking, flexibility, and creativity.
  • A self-motivated mindset with a passion for staying updated on the latest technology trends.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
