The product manager has the corporate responsibility for his products. With it exist the claim, that the product manager must be the product market expert in his field, i.e. is the person in the company, who understands his products and the corresponding market best. He has the goal to bring his products to success.
Performs market and competitor analyses, initiates product improvements, formulates requierement profiles for new products, involved by the creation of functional specifications, creates and transforms the concept of market introduction, support and trains the sales and accompanies sales representatives by customer visits. The product manager is both for the development of products strategy and for the planning, implementation and coordination of the deducted messures and for the permanent and subsequent control. He has the task to manage cross departmental his products.
