Supply Chain Manager

Our client is a start-up company in the field of quantum technology based in Ulm. The company uses the latest developments in quantum physics to apply conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to study human metabolism better. The most critical applications for hyperpolarised MRI are advanced cancer diagnostics and investigating the effectiveness of therapies shortly after they have begun. Our client's ultimate objective is to leverage quantum technologies to achieve the "holy grail" of medical imaging - imaging of the metabolism in real-time, enabling early diagnosis and personalized treatment of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurological disorders. The international team includes 40 specialists, product developers and world-leading scientists from ten countries. Due to strong growth, the company is looking for support in the operational area and is looking for a Supply Chain Manager (m/f/d) to assist the international team during the daily business.


As a Supply Chain Manager, you will support the team in formulating and implementing an effective and sustainable supply chain strategy including a long-term execution plan. You will collaborate closely with the Head of Operations to ensure that the supply chain aligns with the company's objectives and delivers the highest level of customer satisfaction. 

What will be your key responsibilities:

  • Supplier Management: Identifying, evaluating, and managing suppliers for chemicals and consumables, develop a global supply chain (for a global network of customers) that includes device hardware and recurrently used reagents 
  • Internal Inventory Management: Establishing and maintaining inventory levels for raw materials, ensuring that adequate stock levels are maintained to meet production demands. 
  • Demand Planning: Collaborating with the sales and marketing team to understand customer demand for our planned product portfolio, and develop forecasts to ensure that production/supply can meet demand.
  • Logistics and Shipping: Coordinating with logistics partners to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and goods, including international shipping requirements and customs compliance.
  • Quality Assurance: Establishing and implementing quality assurance processes to ensure that all deliveries meet or exceed regulatory and customer requirements. Ensure all suppliers meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks in the supply chain such as raw material availability, supplier quality and capacity constraints, logistics disruptions, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously identifying and implementing process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality, develop a supplier scorecard to track supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.
  • Cost Analysis: Conducting cost analysis on supplier pricing, logistics, and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for cost savings and optimization.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, operations, sales, and finance to ensure that supply chain activities are aligned with company goals and objectives.

What experience should you have:

  • Several years of experience in supply chain (Experience with chemical products used in healthcare environments; specifically diagnostics, lab equipment and reagents, device-pharma combination products, or pharma is considered an advantage.)
  • Educational background in Chemistry or related field is considered an advantage. 
  • Experience with consumables characterized by a restricted shelf life of days or weeks and compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) is considered an advantage.
  • Expertise in constructing and sustaining worldwide supply chains for consumable products, specifically those that necessitate periodic shipments to clientele, including laboratories or medical facilities
  • Experience with analyzing data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements while ensuring that all regulatory and compliance requirements are met
  • You are a self-starter who can prioritize and manage smaller projects simultaneously, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
  • You are a highly motivated and organized individual who is passionate about driving results and delivering high-quality supply chain solutions for customers
  • You bring industry experience from the following areas: Pharma, Biotech, Chemicals
