VMware Administrator

We are looking for our growing Cloud/VMWare platform team for a Senior VMware administrator. We are looking for an experienced professional with 5-8 years of VMware experience with enterprise-level technical support and troubleshooting skills.

This individual should have good communication, documentation, customer-support experiences, and soft people skills. He/she should be well-organized and attention to detail and follow up with warm hands-off with all customers

What will be your key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the VMware public and private cloud initiatives, automation, operational support of infrastructure components, and supporting technologies.
  • Take responsibility and ownership of the corporate VMware infrastructure (monitoring, implementing best practices, upgrading, migrations, etc.)
  • Provide VMware infrastructure design and support, with a specific focus on VMware Infrastructure as a Service. Multiple IT infrastructure and cloud competencies are expected.
  • Position provides high-level competency in the form of standards, design, and solution architecture for VMware‐based cloud services. The focus will be on the design and operations of private cloud technologies from VMware.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience providing infrastructure solutions and support, with a focus on VMware-based cloud technologies such as Dell hardware, VMware ESXi, vRealize Automation, VMware NSX, vSphere vCenter, and vROPs.
  • Experience with VMware cloud technologies in an enterprise environment, both private and public.
  • Experience with adjacent technologies such as virtualization, networking, and automation.
  • Experience with major enterprise hardware platforms, i.e., EMC/Dell, etc.
  • Comfortable adapting to dynamic, rapid, and shifting environments.
  • Create, document, and communicate project requirements, plans, and status.
  • Experience creating innovative and unique solutions for automation using scripting languages and simplifying administration for others
  • Strong communication skills and self‐starter attitude with a strong ability to exercise independent judgment and critical thinking with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of Enterprise VMware validated design Best Practices
  • Analytical and research skills and problem-solving
  • Be familiar with and follow change management procedures handling tickets/requests
  • Perform root cause analysis and good troubleshooting technical issues
  • Define processes and ensure that the processes are adhered to
  • Oversee and is responsible for successful completion of Installation, configuration, and migration, and adhere to SLAs
  • Ensure maximum uptime according to the SLA
  • Understand of Multi-geo support environment
  • Responsible for building/maintaining a test environment
  • Improve and maintain customer and employee satisfaction
  • Suggest new technologies and design changes
  • Monitor and maintain SLA requirements by the team members
  • Plan Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support
  • Suggest patches/upgrades to maintain system security to the utmost level
  • Test/auditing/processes as required from time to time
  • Identify Skill gaps and plan for training/knowledge updating

Must have a valid tax ID and be able to create invoices.

What experience should you have:

Technical Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of VMWare Infrastructure Administration and management experiences
  • Solid understanding and skill with Linux and Windows O/S and VMware hypervisor
  • Good understanding of SDN such as NSX-t and VMware datastore
  • Installations for security patches, functional patches, and version upgrades
  • Performance tuning of ESX server
  • Implement Hardening on ESXi Server -Sphere
  • Document support processes
  • Interact with the Service desk supervision team for Verification of solutions.
  • Maintain compliance with corporate security policies: work together with the security team, identify the server venerability issues and resolve them
  • Responsible for restoration of data
  • Snapshot, HA, DRS & Cloning background process
  • VMware ESX (from version 5.1 to the latest release)
  • Proficient in Vmware technologies like:-VMware High-Availability, VMware Vmotion, VMware DRS, VMware vCenter and vCenter Update Manager, - VMware vCenter and Web console
