VMware ESXi Engineer

The ESX team is responsible for managing the virtualization layer. They deploy virtual machines (VMs) on this layer, which are subsequently managed by other teams, such as network, operating systems, storage, and more. The ESX team utilizes VMware software products, with ESX servers running directly on physical hardware, enabling virtual servers to access hardware resources efficiently. VMware ESX integrates with VMware vCenter, providing additional services to improve the reliability and management of server deployments. The primary objectives of the ESX team include ensuring platform stability, performing software and hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, patching, migrations, consultations, and onboarding.

What will be your key responsibilities:

  • Perform, coordinate, and improve complex activities (3rd level environment) required to provide IT services and support infrastructure to meet relevant KPIs.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain a stable technical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues, or escalate high-impact tickets related to IT infrastructure.
  • Investigate root causes of complex incidents and initiate corrective or improvement actions.
  • Evaluate, authorize, prioritize, plan, implement, document, and review complex changes in a controlled manner, or escalate as needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to support IT services.

What experience should you have:

  • Possess secondary education.
  • Have experience in a similar role with a focus on administration.
  • Speak English at an upper-intermediate level (B2).
  • Expert-level knowledge of virtualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Linux, network, and storage systems is an advantage.
  • Expertise in analytical thinking and communication.
  • Advanced negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Experience in training, mentoring, and team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call duties.
  • Ability to independently solve and troubleshoot incidents and errors.
