Senior Legal Counsel

We are one big family in Rohlik. We see the world from the better side and we are constantly looking for ways to make each other happier. We know that even seemingly small goodies can be of greati mportance, and therefore, together with the rediscovered power of humanity and helpfulness, we return to our roots. To nature, honest craftsmanship and the countryside, where there is inspiration for all who believe that it is time for good things and especially for good food.

We are supporting HQ functions, supporting creation of uniform legal practices and procedures
across Rohlik group countries. Our main goals are:

● To keep Rohlik group as a functional structure of group of Rohlik entities operating the same
e-commerce grocery business across jurisdictions
● To make sure that the HQ business and Rohlik group is compliant with the applicable
legislation as a group (regulatory issues related to e-commerce, corporate governance, data
protection, IP rights etc.)
● To unify legal solutions at the group level and to assist in creating uniform legal practices and
procedures in various Rohlik group countries

What will be your key responsibilities:

The Senior Legal Counsel in our HQ legal team is responsible for providing broad legal
support in the company’s commercial and operational matters. This includes drafting and
negotiating a wide range of contracts (with a focus on SaaS subscriptions, software licensing
agreements, and other commercial contracts), advising on data protection compliance
(GDPR and Czech privacy regulations), and supporting innovative projects (like introducing
automation and robotics in our operations) from a legal point of view. You will also handle
intragroup agreements and occasional corporate matters as needed. As a senior counsel in a
small team, you’ll operate with a high degree of independence – this is an individual
contributor role with no direct reports – while collaborating closely with colleagues across
different departments and countries.

Your responsibilities:

Legal competency:

● Strong experience in commercial contract law, including negotiating and drafting technology

agreements (e.g. SaaS and software licensing contracts, vendor/service agreements).

● Deep knowledge of data protection laws and practices – especially GDPR and its Czech

implementation – and the ability to ensure compliance in day-to-day business.

● Familiarity with legal issues around emerging technologies in business operations, such as

automation and robotics (e.g. understanding related regulatory, safety, or IP considerations).

● Solid understanding of Czech and EU legal frameworks relevant to our industry, especially in

e-commerce, general contracting, and intellectual property law.

● Experience with corporate transactions (M&A, private equity deals, etc.) is a plus, but our

core focus is on operational and commercial legal support.

Competency of project management:

● Managing a smooth and quick run of projects/tasks and pushing to get things done within

deadlines – in other words, ability to drive multiple legal projects to timely completion.

● Ability to clearly specify requests to external legal counsel when necessary and manage

those external collaborations effectively.

● Skill in identifying when a project or task is “frozen” or stalled and proactively escalating or

resolving the issue to get it back on track.

● Great cooperation skills with other people in the legal department, other teams across the

company, and external lawyers – we value a collaborative approach.

● Ability to independently devise and research solutions to a given problem, showing creativity

and a proactive mindset in unfamiliar situations.

What experience should you have:

  • A completed university legal education and practice in a law firm or as an in-house lawyer for at least 6 years
  • Flexibility, stress resistance, the ability to prioritize and solve multiple legal issues at once
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability and desire to learn quickly, desire to learn new things and willingness to learn to work with new IT tools
  • English at an advance level is a must, German or another language is big advantage
  • A team member that fits within a friendly and informal legal environment becoming a part of a smaller growing team of lawyers
