Procurement Data Steward – Master Data
We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Steward to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of procurement master data across our systems.
In this role, you will drive data standards, support procurement processes with high-quality data, and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to enable effective sourcing decisions and reliable reporting. Acting as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for procurement data-related topics, you will contribute to data governance, process improvement initiatives, and the continuous enhancement of the procurement data model.
What will be your key responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Guard procurement data quality, consistency, and accuracy across all systems, ensuring reliable use in S2C/P2P processes and reporting.
- Define, maintain, and evolve procurement data standards, attribute definitions, naming conventions, classification rules, and validation logic.
- Develop and maintain the procurement data model, including attribute structures and cross‑object dependencies.
- Coordinate master data updates and corrections with the master data team and ensure timely, high‑quality execution.
- Serve as SPOC for procurement data issues; analyze root causes, identify gaps, and coordinate fixes with IT and master data teams.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and support digitalization and automation initiatives in procurement data management.
- Ensure procurement data readiness for reporting and analytics, including definition of required attributes and data structures.
- Collaborate with Category Managers to align master data with category strategies and ensure cross‑process consistency.
- Support creation and maintenance of procurement data documentation, rulebooks, guidelines, and process descriptions.
- Conduct data validation checks, identify inconsistencies or gaps, and enforce data governance requirements.
- Work with SAP MM and (ideally) SAP MDG‑M to support data‑related changes, testing, and system improvements.
- Contribute to cross‑functional cooperation with procurement, analytics, IT, P2P, and governance teams.
What experience should you have:
- Experience in procurement related data, data stewardship, or data management roles.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes (S2C/P2P) and their data dependencies.
- Experience with SAP MM; experience with SAP MDG‑M is an advantage.
- Knowledge of data governance principles, data modeling, and data quality management.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and anomalies.
- Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including procurement, category management, IT, and analytics.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Experience working in agile environments (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban).
- English language proficiency at C1 level; German is an advantage.
